In reply to your letter of the 3rd instant

(30145/1927) regarding the remuneration to be granted

to the Chief Justice of Hongkong when acting as a

member of the Appeal Court at Shanghai, I am directed

by Secretary Sir Austen Chamberlain to inform you that

he agrees to the proviso that when the Chief Justice

is unable to proceed to Shanghai, the allowance will

be paid to the Puisne Judge who proceeds in his place.
